Role Description

About Us: Friends of Lake Turkana (FoLT) is a community-focused organization advocating for social, economic, cultural, environmental, and territorial justice in the Greater Turkana Basin. We are seeking a motivated and creative individual to join our team as an ICT and Digital Media Intern.

Role Summary: This dynamic role combines digital storytelling, communications, ICT, and administrative expertise. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, tech-savvy, and highly organized individual, with a passion for impactful storytelling and supporting organizational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Digital Media and ICT

• Plan and create multimedia content, including photography, videography, and graphic design.
• Produce engaging digital content for social media, the website, newsletters, and reports.
• Maintain an organized archive of digital assets for easy retrieval.
• Troubleshoot and manage ICT tools, ensuring smooth communication and operations.
• Support digital platforms and provide solutions for enhanced online engagement.

Communications

• Assist in implementing FoLT’s communications strategy to amplify our advocacy goals.
• Contribute to the development of key messages, press releases, and media briefs.
• Collaborate with the team to amplify community voices through storytelling.

Administrative Support

• Maintain records, schedules, and logistical plans for organization, communications and ICT projects.
• Help in coordinating meetings, workshops, and events, ensuring smooth execution.
• Provide administrative support across departments to enhance efficiency.

Learning and Growth

• Stay informed about trends in ICT, digital media, and communications.
• Take initiative to learn new skills and tools to improve personal and team performance.

Qualifications:

• A young person passionate about ICT, digital media, and effective communication.
• Proficiency in photography, videography, video editing, and social media management.
• Familiarity with design tools.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Background or education in ICT, communication or media.
• Previous experience in community-focused organizations or advocacy campaigns is an
added advantage.
